NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Bill de Blasio is unveiling an ad campaign aimed at getting New York City parents to register their children for pre-kindergarten.
De Blasio appeared at a Chinatown pre-k program Thursday to tout the campaign.
The city will spend $300,000 for ads on buses, bus shelters and subway stations.
They’ll remind parents to sign up by the April 23 deadline for a place in a public school pre-k program.
There will also be Taxi TV videos, robocalls and a recorded message on the city’s 311 information line.
Volunteers will also hand out flyers on street corners and at community organizations.
De Blasio has made expanded pre-k the centerpiece of his first months in office.
Parents will also be able to register for pre-k slots at community-based organizations later this spring.
