RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Gov. Pat McCrory is back in North Carolina after two days of meetings in and around Washington, D.C. related to the military, education and the state’s economy.
McCrory spoke Thursday about education and business innovation at a center created by GE designed to encourage invention and improvements in manufacturing. Later he went to northern Virginia and Lockheed Martin’s airplane fighter demonstration center to get a feel for the new F-35 jet. Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point is expected to become a center for F-35 maintenance, overhaul and repairs for decades.
The governor on Wednesday visited North Carolina midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy and toured Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, visiting service members.
McCrory’s office also said the governor also had some economic development meetings in Washington.
