TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The National Weather Service in Tulsa says it has received reports of hail ranging from nickel-sized to ping pong ball-sized as well as strong wind gusts.
The weather service says nickel-sized hail was reported in Wagoner County Thursday afternoon about 2:45 p.m. Rogers County reported ping pong ball-sized hail around the same time.
Hail the size of tennis balls were reported in McIntosh County around 6 p.m. near Checotah.
Quarter-sized hail slammed Muskogee County earlier.
Northeastern Oklahoma also saw strong winds throughout the afternoon. The weather service received a report from an emergency manager in Mayes County that winds were gusting 70 mph. A storm chaser also reported wind gust of 70 mph in Wagoner County.
A tornado watch was in effect Thursday afternoon for eastern Oklahoma.
