JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - House Speaker Mike Chenault has requested a stand-alone bill that would allow out-of-state residents to serve on the board of the Alaska Gasline Development Corp., or AGDC.
Chenault had planned to propose an amendment to that effect to a Senate bill extending the sunset date of a domestic violence council. But at a Thursday House Rules Committee hearing, he instead said he would request a committee-sponsored bill.
Chenault says he hopes to get the bill through the House and Senate before confirmation hearings next Friday.
Gov. Sean Parnell appointed Richard Rabinow, a Texas man and former pipeline company executive, to AGDC’s board.
Chenault said it was an oversight of the original legislation establishing the corporation to not make clear that board appointments also could go to qualified out-of-state residents.
