FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - A Fort Hood official says there is a “strong possibility” that the gunman who killed three people and wounded 16 others at the Texas military base argued with one or more soldiers immediately before the shooting.
But Fort Hood’s senior officer, Lt. Gen. Mark Milley, also said Thursday that there’s “no indication at this point” that Spc. Ivan Lopez was targeting specific people in the Wednesday afternoon shooting.
Milley said investigators are looking into whether Lopez had a “verbal altercation” with another soldier or soldiers before the shooting. Milley also said he would “await the investigation” but there’s no immediate indication that Lopez was targeting specific soldiers.
