TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - With another round of storms headed toward Alabama, people are beginning to show up at storm shelters in Tuscaloosa.
Simone Turner and her 7-year-old son Christopher arrived at a shelter Tuesday afternoon just as forecasters issued a tornado watch that included the city.
Turner says they stayed at a house with relatives during the storm Monday night. But they recalled the more than 50 people killed by a tornado in Tuscaloosa three years ago, and they opted for the shelter Tuesday.
Her son says they left their two dogs at home, and he’s worried about them.
Workers say about 150 people showed up at the shelter Monday, and nearly 200 filled another one on the opposite side of town.
