COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina’s top prosecutor is drawing attention to the needs of the state’s children.
Attorney General Alan Wilson is observing 2014 Children’s Advocacy Day Tuesday with a news conference at the Statehouse. Wilson says he plans to stand with state legislators and advocates for children’s issues.
Children’s Advocacy Day is hosted by the South Carolina Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers. Wilson says the group provides training, assistance and support services to Children’s Advocacy Centers and other community partners.
Wilson says more than 7,000 children were served last year by Children’s Advocacy Centers throughout South Carolina. He says the cases included instances of sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, drug endangerment and witness to violence.
