CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf says he support the NBA commissioner’s actions against Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Reinsdorf and Chicago Bulls President Michael Reinsdorf praised NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in a Tuesday statement. Earlier in the day Silver said he would ban Sterling for life for making racist comments in a recorded conversation. Silver also fined Sterling $2.5 million.

The Reinsdorf statement says they support Silver’s recommendation to press for Sterling to relinquish his ownership of the Clippers.

The Reinsdorfs also say “Silver’s decision reflects the best interests of the NBA and public civility.” They say Sterling’s comments “in no way reflect the attitude, values and culture” of the Chicago Bulls.

Jerry Reinsdorf also is chairman of baseball’s Chicago White Sox.
