LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies have killed a man who wounded a woman and then stood on an East Los Angeles street with a gun in his hand.
Deputies were sent to North Gage Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday by a report that someone had been shot. A woman was taken to a hospital but there’s no word on her condition.
Televised news reports showed a man standing outside a home, holding a handgun and talking on a cellphone.
Sheriff’s officials say about an hour-and-a-half after the confrontation began, the man moved toward a house and SWAT team deputies moved in.
Authorities say the man shot at deputies and was killed.
His name hasn’t been released and there’s no word yet on a motive for the attack.
