DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A former technician at a central Florida high school will be designated a sexual offender in addition to serving a 13 year sentence for having sex with a student.

Circuit Judge Leah Case ruled Monday that 34-year-old Michael Jones must also serve 15 years of probation once he’s released from prison.

Prosecutors say Jones had the 16-year-old girl excused from class so the two could have a tryst at Seabreeze High School.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://bit.ly/1rIrAig ) reports Jones first met the girl when she was 14, but the pair didn’t have sex until two years later.

Jones had pleaded no contest to two counts of sexual activity with a person under 18. He faced up to 30 years in prison on second-degree felony charges
