HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii lawmakers have passed a law making it illegal to post a nude photo of someone online without their permission.
The House and Senate passed the measure (HB 1750) on Tuesday.
The bill makes posting such photos of people nude or engaged in sexual activity without their permission a violation of privacy, punishable as a felony.
The measure doesn’t apply to people who are voluntarily nude or engaging in sexual activity in public.
It targets people who post pictures or video intending to harm those depicted, ruining their career, reputation or relationships.
The measure was supported by prosecutors in Honolulu, as well as on Maui and Kauai.
The bill now goes to Gov. Neil Abercrombie for his approval.
