ATLANTA (AP) - Zoo Atlanta officials say the departure of two giant pandas that are headed to China has been pushed back by almost a week.

Officials say 5-year-old Xi Lan and 3-year-old Po are now scheduled to depart for China on May 12 instead of May 7.

The pandas are being moved to China’s Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Both pandas have been independent from their mother for some time.

Atlanta Zoo visitors can say goodbye to Xi Lan and Po on Sunday and on May 3 and 4. In addition to parents Lun Lun and Yang Yang, the zoo will still have twin nine-month-old pandas in its giant panda conservation center.
