A shooting that stemmed from a teenage argument on a sidewalk in Chicago’s South Side has left a girl, 14, dead.

Another girl, age unknown, was injured and taken to the nearby hospital for treatment of an arm wound.

Police spokesman Thomas Sweeney said the 14-year-old was on the sidewalk with a bunch of other teens in the Back of the Yards neighborhood when one in the group pulled out a gun and began firing, The Associated Press reported.

The 14-year-old died a short time later at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, AP said.

Police haven’t made any arrests, but they are speaking to a person of interest.
