WASHINGTON (AP) - A woman who stole nearly $95,000 from her employer by pretending to own its properties has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Thirty-four-year-old Kirsten Wilkinson of Dumfries, Va., was also ordered to pay restitution to her former employer at sentencing Monday in federal court in Washington.

According to government evidence, Wilkinson worked for a small real estate company that renovates buildings. Prosecutors say she rented out the properties, secretly telling tenants to write rental checks to her in her name.
