SWEETWATER, Texas (AP) - A West Texas woman has been killed and her pilot husband hurt after their small plane crashed during apparent fuel-related trouble.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the single-engine plane crashed Sunday afternoon about a mile southeast of Sweetwater.

DPS says 60-year-old Lisa Bowman of Hermleigh (HERM’-lee) was dead at the scene.

Authorities say 58-year-old Richard Bowman of Hermleigh was transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. A hospital official on Monday said the husband was treated and released.

DPS says the Bowmans were flying from Shreveport, La., to Sweetwater when there was an apparent problem switching fuel tanks and the engine stalled.

Sweetwater is 175 miles west of Fort Worth.
