SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Hundreds of tourism officials and business leaders from across the state are gathering at a Syracuse-area hotel for the 2014 Empire State Tourism Conference.
The conference is being held at a hotel in East Syracuse Monday through Wednesday.
Tourism officials will be discussing ways to boost New York state’s efforts to attract visitors. In 2012, traveler spending contributed $57 billion to the state’s economy.
Participants will hear from experts and learn more about marketing opportunities to make New York more attractive for travelers.
The conference is being hosted by the New York State Tourism Industry Association, which was formed last month by the merging of two statewide tourism groups.
Next month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is holding a New York state tourism summit in Manhattan.
