ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - National Guard soldiers and airmen are taking part in special training to improve their emergency preparedness skills.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the training will take place in the state’s preparedness center in Oriskany Monday through Friday.

Training will cover hazardous material spills and searching for and extracting victims.

The Department of Defense chose the state’s National Guard as part of the Homeland Response Force designed to deal with chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents across the country.
