LONDON (AP) - Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will contest a Football Association charge of misconduct related to his post-match comments following his team’s loss to Sunderland this month.
Relegation-threatened Sunderland ended Mourinho’s 77-match unbeaten home league run with a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on April 19. An angry Mourinho made sarcastic comments after the game, describing referee Mike Dean’s performance as “unbelievable” and “fantastic.”
The FA said he has requested a non-personal hearing in the case. His assistant Rui Faria, who was dismissed for angrily confronting the match officials, has admitted two charges of misconduct.
Midfielder Ramires received a four-match ban for elbowing Sebastian Larsson during the match.
