MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Morgantown is bracing for extra trash removal as West Virginia University students pack up and head home this week.

The city and Republic Services have set up a dozen Dumpsters around Morgantown for disposal of students’ unwanted items and trash.

The Student Move-Out Dumpster Program begins Monday and continues through May 5.

The city says in a news release that students who pay residential rates for weekly trash pickup can use the Dumpsters. The program is not open to students who live in commercial dwellings or to landlords.

Some items won’t be accepted. They include carpet, construction materials, car parts, batteries, computers, paints, tires and other hazardous materials.

Final exams at the university begin Monday.
