CINCINNATI (AP) - More severe weather is expected in Ohio after lightning strikes from strong wind and thunderstorms in the Cincinnati area sparked at least two house fires and struck an elevator shaft at a city building, forcing a brief evacuation.

Heavy rain whipped by winds of more than 40 mph hit the area Monday morning. No injuries were reported.

The Cincinnati Enquirer says lightning-caused fires were reported at a house in West Chester Township just north of Cincinnati and across the river in Florence, Ky. Lightning also struck an elevator shaft at Cincinnati City Hall.

National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Hickman says a large, low-pressure system moving in from the southwest was forecast to bring more showers and thunderstorms to most of Ohio late Monday and again overnight Tuesday.
