BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - The president of Ireland will be one of two speakers during next month’s commencement on Indiana University’s Bloomington campus.

Irish President Michael Higgins will be the speaker at undergraduate ceremonies on May 10. Higgins is a poet and writer who has also served as the island nation’s arts minister.

IU’s graduate degree recipients will hear May 9 from former U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill, who has worked as a computer systems analyst and a corporate chief executive. He served as treasury secretary under President George W. Bush.

O’Neill drew attention after the Sept. 11 attacks when he pledged to go after terrorists’ funding sources.

Both men are Indiana University alumni.
