NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - Teens at one southwestern Idaho school are getting a taste of financial reality through an event hosted by nine area credit unions.

The Idaho Press-Tribune (https://bit.ly/QUPCJj ) reports the Reality Fair at Nampa High School, led students through a game where they made choices based on fictional careers and incomes. Students were assigned occupations and a net monthly income, and then they were presented with unexpected expenses like veterinary bills and dental costs. At the end of the game they were given a credit score.

Junior Carlos Levi said the game was a good learning experience and now he understands why parents get stressed.

Nampa High Principal Byron Holtry said the game was the first of its kind at the school, and one he hopes to bring back next year.
