PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A disabled teenager’s stolen tricycle has been found, although it is damaged beyond repair.

Wayne Thompson’s tricycle was found Monday at Roger Williams Park in Providence. The $7,000 tricycle had been custom-made for the 17-year-old boy, and donated by a children’s hospital.

His mother, Donna Thompson, tells WPRI-TV that the tricycle was stripped down, making it useless for her son’s needs. He has a brain condition, scoliosis and other ailments that prevent him from riding a traditional bicycle.

A fundraising website was earlier set up to help replace the tricycle on gofundme.com, with approval of the family. The site has raised nearly $5,000.

The tricycle went missing from the boy’s uncle’s home in Providence last week, after the uncle took it out of the garage to clean it.
