Environmental groups concerned about crude oil transportation along Hudson River to hold forum

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - Environmental groups concerned about expanded crude oil transportation along the Hudson River are holding a forum for local residents.

Riverkeeper and Scenic Hudson are promoting an informational session on May 5 in Newburgh about what they see as elevated crude oil risks in the Hudson Valley.

Global Partners of Waltham, Mass., has proposed expansion of a rail terminal in New Windsor. That’s just north of West Point.

The company also wants to expand its operation at the Port of Albany.

State regulators are seeking more information related to Global Partners’ shipments of crude oil from North Dakota and western Canada to coastal refineries.

Global Partners says it has consistently worked cooperatively with regulators and will continue to do so.
