OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Unionized civilian workers who provide maintenance and support for aircraft at Fort Rucker have voted to go on strike.
The Dothan Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1flbaKJ ) about 2,900 workers were to begin striking Monday after union members Sunday rejected the latest contract offer by L3, the civilian contractor serving the Alabama Army post.
Harry Perrigin, the company’s associate business director, says management offered a five-year contract with a 1.5 percent raise the first year and 2 percent raises for the remaining years. But union members say the contract fell short in other areas.
Officials say it’s the first time the local union has gone on strike in more than three decades.
