HOUSTON (AP) - A driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after police say his car hit a Houston firetruck and his female passenger was killed.

Houston police on Monday announced charges against 27-year-old Ricky Nelson Goodwin.

The accident happened early Saturday on Interstate 45. Investigators say Goodwin was driving a gray Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed when his car hit the pumper truck. The rig was blocking traffic for another accident on the freeway.

Investigators say a 28-year-old woman in Goodwin’s car was dead at the scene.

Goodwin sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital. Two Houston firefighters also suffered minor injuries.

Online jail records did not immediately list bond information or an attorney for Goodwin.
