FARIBAULT, Minn. (AP) - Democrats in the 1st District have endorsed U.S. Rep. Tim Walz in his run for a fifth term in Congress.

There was little suspense in the endorsement Saturday at the district convention in Faribault because Walz has no Democratic challengers. Earlier this month, Republicans nominated Aaron Miller to challenge Walz. After three rounds of balloting Miller beat state Rep. Mike Benson and Blue Earth businessman Jim Hagedorn.

The most recent campaign finance reports show Walz has more than $400,000 in the bank heading into re-election. Miller has about $43,000 in cash on hand as of the end of March. Winona Daily News (https://bit.ly/1k3q2Jq ) says Miller has made multiple $40,000 loans to his campaign.
