PHOENIX (AP) - People in Arizona who died from injuries suffered on the job will be remembered at a memorial service.

State lawmakers, family members and other supporters will gather Monday morning near the State Capitol as part of National Workers Memorial Day.

The 10 a.m. ceremony will honor workers who were killed or suffered an illness while working.

Participants will also call for the creation of safe jobs and workplaces.

According to a 2012 Bureau of Labor Statistics report, 37 workers were killed in Arizona and more than 54,000 others were hurt while at work.

The event will include remarks from injured workers.

State representatives Debbie McCune Davis and Jonathan Larkin will be in attendance.
