CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago fire officials say 15 people were hurt - one person seriously - when a SUV struck a Chicago Transit Authority bus on the city’s South Side.
Monday’s accident happened around 10 a.m.
Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says witnesses told investigators the SUV crossed the center lane, hitting the bus that had 21 people on board. He said crash caused “severe damage to the SUV and substantial damage to the bus.”
Langford says the SUV’s driver was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious to critical condition. Two children in the vehicle were transported in stable condition.
Meanwhile, 12 people on the bus were also taken to various hospitals, all in good or stable condition.
A CTA spokeswoman says that figure includes the bus driver. Nine bus passengers refused treatment.
