SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - The National Weather Service has called a tornado watch until 9 p.m. for much of Arkansas and parts of Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana.

In Louisiana, the tornado watch includes Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, Lincoln, Union and Webster parishes.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms, and people in and near the watch areas should be ready for threatening weather.

The weather service says the likelihood of supercell development will increase in late afternoon and evening. Forecasters say the more intense supercells will be able to create very large hail and damaging winds.
