STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - A debate is scheduled for candidates competing for the Republican nomination for Connecticut governor.
The Business Council of Fairfield County, Hearst Media Services Connecticut and News12 Connecticut will host the debate Wednesday morning at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel.
The participating candidates include Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, Avon lawyer Martha Dean, Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, Senate Minority Leader John McKinney and West Hartford builder Joe Visconti. Greenwich businessman Tom Foley is not expected to attend.
Foley, who has led his Republican rivals in the polls and narrowly lost to Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in 2010, has said he’ll debate the others after the party’s May convention
The candidates are seeking to challenge Malloy in November.
