PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say Philadelphia police shot and critically wounded a man who allegedly scuffled with officers after a traffic stop.

Investigators say police pulled over a vehicle late Saturday night in west Philadelphia.

Three people were in the car, and officers say they asked one man to get out because he gave them a fake name.

Police say the man tried to flee and resisted officers as they attempted to capture and subdue him. Police say the man was shot by one officer as he allegedly tried to grab the other officer’s gun.

Officials say the injured man took off running but collapsed after a couple of blocks. He was hospitalized in critical condition.
