Over the last three decades, the Laborers International Union of North America has contributed about $38 million to Democrats. Over all, the Laborers only give 7 percent of their total political giving to Republicans.
How has that worked out for them?
One of the major priorities for the Laborers Union was approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Pushing for approval of the pipeline was very important for the union for obvious reasons. When the pipeline is given the green light, it will mean a lot of jobs, including jobs for union members.
But on Good Friday, at a time guaranteed to generate minimal press coverage, President Obama announced the Keystone Pipeline would be delayed yet again.
Why did the Obama regime delay the Keystone Pipeline and throw the Laborers Union under the bus?
Cold, hard cash.
Radical left wing environmentalist and billionaire Tom Steyer promised Democrats $100 million this year for re-election efforts. What he wanted in return was the killing of the Keystone Pipeline.
It has been at least delayed.
So now the Democrats are going to get at least some of that $100 million Mr. Steyer promised.
The labor unions, including the Laborers Union are furious. As well they should be.
Terry O’Sullivan, of the Laborers Union, said in an interview with Bloomberg, “Once again, the administration in making a political calculation instead of doing what is right for the country. It’s clear the administration needs to grow a set of antlers, or perhaps take a lesson from Popeye and eat some spinach.”
Red State Democrats are terrified. Their positions are precarious enough as it is. This will only make it worse. As gas prices surge towards and over $4 a gallon, Americans are not happy about the delay. According to surveys between 60 percent and two-thirds of Americans want to see the pipeline built.
One rich, radical billionaire does not and who does the Obama Regime listen to?
The Laborers Union has said it is going to target certain Democrats in the House of Representatives for defeat. The Laborers have said they want to keep the Democrats in charge of the Senate.
Why?
A large number of their members are members of the Tea Party movement. Some of the strongest advocates for building Keystone are members of the Tea Party movement.
The obvious question is, why isn’t the Union throwing money to help Tea Party candidates win?
The biggest problem the union faces is the same problem that faces millions of other Americans. They are not working. Thanks to the Great Obama Depression, American employment is at record lows. Why the Laborers is not supporting Tea Party candidates who support Keystone is beyond mystifying.

Over the last three decades, the Laborers Union has given 93 percent of its political contributions to the Democrats and when they really need the Democrats to deliver jobs for them, look what happens.
