GIRDLETREE, Md. (AP) - Police say a commercial fisherman has been rescued from a marshy island after his boat capsized in Chincoteague Bay along Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

The Daily Times (https://delmarvane.ws/1hCNtMz ) reports the man was taken to a hospital Sunday. Maryland Natural Resources Police Sgt. Brian Albert says the man was found on Big Bay Marsh about 7 a.m. He was rescued by his father and another waterman.

Albert says the boat capsized Saturday evening, and the man swam to the nearest land he could find. His father began searching for him when he didn’t come home.

Police did not immediately identify the man. Police say he may have been suffering from hypothermia when he was found, but it was not thought to be life-threatening.
