BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Champlain College is hosting a summit on health care aimed at generating meaningful conversations among medical practitioners, service providers, business owners and patient advocates.

The summit takes place on May 5-7, with a keynote address from former Gov. Dr. Howard Dean.

Dean is currently serving as an independent consultant on issues of health care, early childhood development, alternative energy and the expansion of grassroots politics.

Organizers say some of the topics to be discussed are: optimizing relationships between providers, payers and purchasers; increasing quality and affordability of health care and physician-hospital collaboration.

Registration is $795 and includes a working dinner Lake Champlain cruise, continental breakfast and lunch on May 6 and May 7, a “Taste of Vermont” reception and refreshment breaks during the summit.
