MOHAWK, N.Y. (AP) - A mural commemorating New York service members who died serving their country in the Middle East may now be borrowed for display.
Members of the Fallen Star Memorial Committee in Mohawk, N.Y. say any group or organization can ask to display the mural during events and functions.
The mural depicts all of the men and women from New York state who died serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. It includes a picture, name, rank, branch of service and hometown for each.
Committee member Ron Schoonmaker says each fallen service member has been remembered by a special project. Schoonmaker says more than 400 projects have been completed to date.
Any group wishing to display the mural can contact Mohawk American Legion Post No. 25.
