ANNANDALE, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say a woman is recovering after being struck by a trooper driving a patrol car.

Virginia State Police say it happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday when a trooper was taking the exit ramp from I-495 north to Braddock Road. State police say the woman, who was on foot, ran into the roadway and was struck.

The trooper stopped and administered first aid until additional help arrived. The woman, a 25-year-old from Annandale, Va., was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police did not release the woman’s name.

State police say they also found a male subject nearby and are investigating the incident to determine what caused the woman to run into the roadway.
