CINCINNATI (AP) - A horse racetrack set to reopen this week near Cincinnati as a racino with a new name and a new look is expected to employ about 700 workers.
The Cincinnati Enquirer (https://cin.ci/1imCjgx) reports that the new Belterra Park Gaming & Entertainment Center in the Cincinnati suburb of Anderson Township is scheduled to open Thursday on the site of the former River Downs track.
The opening comes after a $300 million project to transform the River Downs park into a park featuring a rebuilt thoroughbred racetrack, slots gambling and new restaurants. The racino will offer 1,500 video slot games.
Township officials hope the racino will drive new commercial, residential and development in the area.
The track just east of Cincinnati and along the Ohio River opened as River Downs in 1925.
