NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Young music fans are finding their groove at the 2014 New Orleans Jazz Fest.

On Saturday, a local group called Imagination Movers played 1980s-style music for kids. Sweating through cobalt-blue jumpsuits, the four-man band sang about moms, pizza and macaroni and cheese.

NOLA.com-The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1j0yCMs ) the Movers’ touring schedule has conflicted with Jazz Fest the past couple of years, so they’ve been unable to perform. This year’s show was moved to the festival’s first weekend to accommodate the band’s tour of military bases.

The group has a self-titled show on the Disney Junior channel.

One of the Movers, Scott Durbin, says the band plays without pre-recorded tracks.

“We wanted to show kids that you can play musical instruments and be a creator, not just a consumer,” Durbin said. “We don’t use any tracks. If you hear a bad note, that’s on us.”

The Movers are Durbin, Rich Collins, Dave Poche and Scott “Smitty” Smith, and they play with a road drummer Kyle Melancon.

During their gig Saturday, they gave a hometown shout-out for New Orleans, followed by a faithful run through Phillip Phillips “Home.”

“Know you’re not alone,” they sang. “I’m gonna make this place your home.”
