NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Newark police say two men were shot and wounded when gunfire erupted in the city’s South Ward.

The Star-Ledger (https://bit.ly/1nQ9F6N) reports the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday on Kent Street. But when officers arrived, they learned the shooting victims had been driven to a hospital.

Both men suffered gunshot wounds to their legs, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Authorities did not identify the victims, but said both were hospitalized in stable condition.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

No arrests have been made.
