SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Wofford College and its board of trustees are scheduled to host the installation of Nayef Samhat as the school’s 11th president.

Ceremonies are scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. on the lawn of Main Building on the Spartanburg campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The 160-year-old liberal arts college is also inviting the community to a picnic luncheon on the grounds following the installation.

Samhat came to Wofford last July from Kenyon College, where he served as provost and professor of political science and international studies.

Board of trustees chairman Harold Chandler says the college welcomes students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends of the college, and delegates from other academic institutions to the celebration.
