GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - University of Florida officials say diving coach Donnie Craine died in a boat crash.
The Gainesville Sun (bit.ly/1fy4dk2 ) reports the 61-year-old coach was killed Thursday while he was on an annual fishing trip in southwest Florida.
Authorities say Craine was ejected from the boat after the head-on crash with another boat.
He spent 30 years as a diving coach at the University of Florida, where he was SEC Diving Coach of the Year four times. He also coached the U.S. diving team in the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana and the 1993 World University Games in Buffalo, N.Y.
He also coached briefly at the University of Arkansas and Louisiana State University in the 1980s.
Craine is survived by his wife and three children.
