SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Spokane County sheriff’s officers say a car theft suspect being chased on foot Thursday night by a deputy managed to double back and steal the deputy’s patrol car.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/RkXM1g ) that the patrol car was found abandoned a short time later just a few blocks away. Officials say its shotgun and AR-15 rifle were still inside. And deputies soon caught up to the suspect.

Officers say 26-year-old Taylor J. Davis was arrested for investigation of multiple counts.

Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich says the county’s patrol cars are not equipped with GPS tracking devices but will be starting in January.
