PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The former home of a beloved Philadelphia department store is getting a new tenant.

Century 21 - not related to the real estate company - will take over the first two floors of the former Strawbridge & Clothier store in downtown Philadelphia that have been empty since 2006.

Officials said Thursday that the store will be the retail chain’s first store outside of the New York metropolitan area when it opens in October.

Century 21 currently has eight stores, which offer high-end designer clothing at large discounts. Its first store opened in Manhattan in 1961.
