MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The State Ethics Commission says it found no merit to a complaint against a Public Service Commission employee accused of doing campaign work on state time and with state equipment.
Tuscaloosa coal miner John Box filed the complaint against David Rountree, who’s an assistant to PSC member Terry Dunn.
Commission attorney Hugh Evans wrote back that an interview Rountree gave to a TV station was about pending legislation and he did it in his official capacity. Evans says Rountree did put his PSC cell phone number on a filing for a political action committee, but he quickly corrected it.
Evans wrote that the complaint is without merit and the case closed.
When contacted about the complaint, Evans said he would let the letter speak for itself.
Dunn is seeking re-election.
