YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel is among six candidates being interviewed for the president’s job at Youngstown State University, where he used to coach.
Tressel also is one of three finalists for the top job at the University of Akron, where he has been an administrator for two years. He took a job at Akron after being forced out at Ohio State following a scandal in which his players sold memorabilia for cash and tattoos.
The Vindicator (https://bit.ly/1mFp7CM ) reports Youngstown State trustees plan to interview Tressel and five more candidates this weekend via Skype before picking three finalists to visit the school. The other candidates include administrators from several other universities and an official from NASA headquarters.
Tressel’s interview for the Akron presidency is scheduled next week.
