ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - City and state officials helped break ground Wednesday for a $275 million power plant in east Anchorage.

Municipal Light and Power says the natural gas-fired plant will be 35 percent more efficient that the utility’s current turbines.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1roW8Ft) the plant should be completed in the summer of 2016 and last for 40 to 50 years.
