NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Transit trains are back on schedule after commuters faced delays into and out of New York City for about three hours.
NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says problems with Amtrak’s overhead wires just outside of New York’s Penn Station cut off power to 12 tracks Thursday morning. One train was stopped and brought back to the station.
Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Raritan Valley line trains were up to 45 minutes late heading into and leaving New York City between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Midtown Direct trains resumed service into New York after being diverted for about 90 minutes to Hoboken.
Buses and PATH honored NJ Transit rail tickets.
