BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Montana Catholic schools superintendent Pat Haggarty says he’s leaving for a new job, but not until his successor is hired.
Haggarty’s decision was first reported by the Billings Gazette Thursday (https://tinyurl.com/m4lys2k).
In an interview with The Associated Press, Haggarty declined to say what the new job is but called it a great opportunity.
He says his decision has nothing to do with two personnel moves this year.
Butte teacher Shaela Evenson was fired because officials said she violated her contract by becoming pregnant while unmarried. She has filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Tarn Duff, a part-time assistant high school coach in Billings, said her contract wasn’t renewed because she worked at Planned Parenthood.
Haggarty said at the time that Planned Parenthood violates Catholic moral teaching.
