LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - The state Supreme Court has denied Woodrow Karey’s appeal for a bond reduction.
Karey is accused of shooting pastor Ronald Harris in Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center on Sept. 27. State court Judge Clayton Davis lowered bond from $1 million to $500,000 after a grand jury indicted Karey on a manslaughter charge rather than second-degree murder, for which he was arrested.
Defense attorneys Todd Clemons and Adam Johnson previously said they were seeking a $150,000 bond.
Karey’s wife filed a rape complaint against Harris two days before the shooting.
Authorities say there was a relationship between Karey’s wife and Harris, but did not say whether it was consensual.
